Skills Competition Thursday June 09, 2011
Each manager must select 2 different players for each individual events and any 6 players for around the horn. We would like to encourage each manager use every player for skills competition.
King of Swat: 7U - 14U
2 players from each team will face their own pitcher of choice. Each player gets 5 outs, anything not hit out of the park or missed is an out. Player with the most home runs will be the winner.
Road Runner: 5U - 14U
2 players from each team are timed running the bases from home to home. Each base missed results in a 5 second penalty. Team with the fastest time wins.
Golden Arm: 5U - 14U
2 players from each team get 3 throws from approximately 75 feet to home plate for the 5U - 8U and 125 feet to home plate for the 9U - 14U. Each throw will receive a score of 1, 3, or 5 based on accuracy. 1pt for hitting target on a bounce, 3pts if throw hits target in the air, 5 pts if throw goes into target in the air. Most points win
Around the horn: 5U - 14U
6 payers will compete from each team. Each base must be tagged, player may tag the base with glove or any part of the body.
1. Pitcher throws to the catcher (teams time begins when the catcher tags home plate and releases the baseball)
2. Catcher must throw the ball to the 3rd baseman tagging 3rd base.
3. 3rd baseman must throw the ball to 2nd baseman tagging 2nd base.
4. 2nd baseman must throw the ball to 1st baseman tagging 1st base.
5. 1st baseman must throw the ball to the shortstop tagging 2nd base.
6. Shortstop throws the ball to the catcher covering home.
Time will end when the catcher steps on home plate with possession of the ball. 5 second penalty will be assessed on over throw and each base missed including home plate.
